This course is available in four versions; the adult version for those who work or take care of adults and the youth version for adults who work or care for youth. Both Adult and Youth MHFA are also available in Spanish. And, through our partnership with Directions for Living, Inc. teen MHFA is now available to 15 - 18 year olds.

01. Adult Version

For adults who work, live or care for adults. Participants will learn how to assist an adult who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical, evidence-based action plan. The MHFA Adult class in English is delivered in a virtual format. Learners complete a 2 hour, self-paced online introduction, and participate in a 6.5 hour, instructor led training in a video conference.

02. Teen Version

Teen Mental Health First Aid teaches high school students how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders among their friends and peers. The training gives students the skills to have supportive conversations with their friends and get a responsible and trusted adult to take over as necessary. It is designed to be delivered in schools or community sites in three interactive classroom sessions of 90 minutes each or six sessions of 45 minutes each.

03. Youth Version

With a focus on improved mental health literacy and early intervention. Youth MHFA is for adults who work, live or care for adolescents such as teachers, school support staff, parents, sports coaches, community group leaders and youth workers. Adolescence is a time of important change and development. It is also the time when mental health problems can first emerge. During high school years, mental health problems are among the leading causes of falling grades, problems with friends and relationships and substance abuse. The MHFA Youth class in English is delivered in a virtual format. Learners complete a 2 hour, self-paced online introduction, and participate in a 5.5 hour, instructor led training in a video conference.
